Description
Markley Amalgam Instruments
A markley amalgam instrument packs freshly mixed alloy into a preparation and shapes it before carving. The supplier catalogue shows the Markley figures on two filling instrument pages, so this listing offers twelve choices in two series.
The FOC Series
The first catalogue page lists six figures marked FOC: Fig. 0, Fig. 0S, Fig. 1, Fig. 1S, Fig. 2 and Fig. 2S. The catalogue does not explain what FOC stands for, so we use the label exactly as printed. Within the series, each number has an S partner. Compare the photos to see how each S figure differs from its plain twin.
The Numbered Series, Fig. 1 to Fig. 6
The second page shows Markley Fig. 1 through Fig. 6 without the FOC mark. These are separate catalogue items, even though some numbers match the first series. Because the catalogue prints only the figure numbers here, the photos are your best reference for each tip.
Building a Markley Set
Most dentists start with two or three figures for routine class I and class II work. Later, they add others for unusual preparations. For example, a practice may keep one small figure for narrow boxes and a larger one for occlusal bulk.
Condensing Technique
Place small increments and press firmly so each layer bonds to the last. Then overfill slightly, since the surplus is carved away afterwards.
Each Markley figure is stainless steel and receives a final look in the United States before leaving Atlanta. No Markley figure leaves us sterile, so condensers go through washing and autoclaving before their first restoration. All twelve figures share the same assurance: three years against manufacturing defects whichever series you choose.
Our steel follows ASTM F899. See more restorative tools in the 656 category page, and load the alloy with our amalgam carriers. The FAQs cover ordering.
