Description
Amalgam Carriers
An amalgam carrier moves freshly mixed alloy from the well into the preparation. You press the open cup into the mix. Then you carry the loaded tip to the tooth. A thumb press on the lever drives a plunger down the barrel. The pellet then drops where you aim it. That keeps the alloy off gloves and away from the margins of the field.
Four Cup Sizes, Mini to Jumbo
The cup size sets how much alloy each trip delivers. The catalogue lists the Mini cup at 2.0 mm, the Regular at 2.5 mm and the Large at 3.0 mm. The Jumbo is the biggest of the four. Small Class I and Class V preparations suit the Mini, since a small increment condenses evenly. However, Class II boxes and cores fill faster with the Large or Jumbo.
Single 150 mm or Double-Ended 200 mm
Single-ended carriers are 150 mm long and come as Mini, Regular, Large or Jumbo. The double-ended versions measure 200 mm and put two cups on one instrument. You can choose from four pairings:
- Mini/Regular, for conservative preparations
- Regular/Large, a balanced general-practice choice
- Regular/Jumbo, for offices that jump between small and large fills
- Large/Jumbo, for bulk filling and cores
On a double-ended carrier, a quick turn of the handle brings the other cup into play.
Keeping the Plunger Moving Freely
Set alloy inside the barrel is the main reason a carrier sticks. So expel any leftover pellet right away. Then flush the cup before the alloy hardens. Next, clean and sterilize the carrier, since it reaches you in a non-sterile state.
Steel, Checks and Warranty
The carrier is made of stainless steel. Before dispatch, our United States team works the lever of each one to confirm smooth travel. We also back every carrier for three years against manufacturing defects. So a plunger that fails through a production flaw is our problem.
Read about ASTM F899 surgical steels, view the full restorative and periodontal range, and add a 2 mm amalgam instrument for packing each increment. Common carrier questions are covered in the help pages.
Each amalgam carrier is supplied for licensed dental teams; the instrument reprocessing page and order shipping page explain handling and dispatch.
