Description

Amalgam Instruments, Ø 2 mm

Every 2 mm amalgam instrument on this page shares one feature: a round working end two millimetres across. That size fits most premolar and molar preparations without crowding the walls. You use it to push each fresh increment into line angles and against the matrix band. The patterns differ in length, angle and handle style, so the right choice depends on where you work most.

Straight Fig. 1 in Three Variants

Three of the six options are Fig. 1 designs. The plain Fig. 1 measures 150 mm, and the Swiss Pattern Fig. 1 also comes in at 150 mm. Meanwhile, the German Pattern Fig. 1 is the longest here at 185 mm. That extra length gives a larger hand more to hold. Because the catalogue shows no further detail between plain and Swiss versions, we suggest comparing the product photos.

Angled Ends for Posterior Access

Two figures bend the working end so it meets the floor of a posterior box squarely:

  • Fig. 2, angled at 45° on a 150 mm instrument
  • Fig. 3, angled at 90° on a shorter 140 mm instrument

The 45° version suits upper molars viewed in the mirror. In contrast, the 90° Fig. 3 reaches distal boxes on lower second molars, where a straight shank would hit the opposing teeth.

The English Pattern Fig. 10

Fig. 10 follows the English pattern and is 165 mm long. It sits between the 150 mm and 185 mm options. Clinicians trained on English-pattern handles often prefer its feel, so it makes a sensible pick for them.

Material, Handling and Cover

Each instrument is stainless steel and receives a visual tip inspection in America before we pack it. It travels unsterilized, therefore wipe away residue and complete a sterilizer cycle first. Also, remove alloy from the end while it is still soft. Our cover runs for three years against manufacturing defects on all six patterns.
