Description
Magill Forceps Adult, 9 3/4 Inch
Adult Magill forceps give the surgical team a long, angled grasper for the back of the mouth. This version measures 25 cm, or 9 3/4 inches. In implant surgery, teams keep it close for throat packs and for recovering a dropped component.
Why the Shank Is Angled
The Magill design bends the shank so the rings sit well away from the tips. Therefore, the operator can look straight down into the oropharynx while the jaws work below the tongue. Straight forceps cannot do this, because the hand would block the view.
The Adult 25 cm Size
This listing covers one length, the adult 9 3/4 inch pattern. It suits most adult patients and gives extra reach in larger mouths. For children or very small adults, however, a shorter child pattern is easier to steer.
Ready for a Dropped Screw or Driver
Small implant parts such as cover screws, healing abutments and driver tips can slip during surgery. When that happens, the team needs a retrieval instrument immediately. So, many offices keep a Magill forceps on every implant tray rather than in a drawer.
- Placing and removing gauze throat packs
- Recovering dropped screws, abutments or drivers
- Positioning items deep in the oral cavity
