Amalgam Finger Cups

An amalgam finger cup sits on the assistant’s or dentist’s finger like a small ring with a well on top. It holds freshly mixed alloy right beside the operating field, so the carrier can be reloaded without reaching for a tray. This page offers four versions. Standard and Ivory are the two named types, and each comes in Style 1 and Style 2.

Standard Versus Ivory

These two names are the labels our product list uses for two separate finger cup patterns. We do not have a printed specification that sets out how they differ. For that reason, please compare the photos for each option before you buy. If your practice already uses one of these cups, matching the name is the simplest way to keep trays consistent.

Style 1 and Style 2

Within each type, Style 1 and Style 2 are two further patterns from the same source list. Again, the source gives no written detail on the difference, so the option images are your best guide. Look at the ring shape and the cup outline, then pick the version that suits the finger size and grip of the person who will wear it.

Keeping Alloy Handy During Placement

During a busy amalgam appointment, the carrier may need refilling several times. With a cup on the finger, the assistant can follow the dentist’s hands instead of turning back to the bracket table. As a result, increments go in faster and the mix stays together in one place. Afterwards, any leftover alloy should go into proper amalgam waste, never down the drain.

Every finger cup is visually checked at our United States address before it ships. However, the cups travel non-sterile, so clean and sterilize each one first. Intrace USA also commits to three years against manufacturing defects on each finger cup version, covering faults in workmanship.
