Kramer Periodontal Curettes
A Kramer periodontal curette removes soft tissue and debris inside an open surgical site. Three patterns are available: #1 Mesial, #2 Distal and #3 Universal. Each curette passes inspection in the United States prior to shipment.
Mesial, Distal and Universal Explained
The names describe which surfaces each tip is shaped to reach. The #1 Mesial addresses mesial surfaces. The #2 Distal, in turn, is set up for distal surfaces. Meanwhile, the #3 Universal is intended to adapt to several surfaces with one instrument.
Buying a Pair or a Trio
Many clinicians start with the #1 and #2 together, because the two cover both interproximal sides. Then the #3 Universal works as a backup or a quick general option. Alternatively, a small practice may begin with the #3 alone and add the others later. Since the tips are paired by surface, ordering #1 and #2 together keeps your tray balanced.
Use in Surgical and Implant Sites
Kramer curettes are surgical patterns. After a flap is raised, they help clear granulation tissue from defects and root surfaces. Around implant sites, they also help clean the area before grafting. However, always follow your implant system’s guidance on instrumenting implant surfaces.
Steel and Guarantee
Each curette is stainless steel and suited to repeated sterilization. Also, any of the three patterns you buy is backed for three years against manufacturing defects.
We use steel that conforms to ASTM F899. For more hand instruments, visit Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments. When the defect calls for bone work rather than soft tissue, reach for the Lucas Bone Curette Fig. 88. Ordering details are in our FAQs.
For trained periodontal and implant professionals only. Curettes are shipped without sterilization, so clean and sterilize each one before first use per our care and sterilization page; dispatch times are on our shipping and delivery page.
