Description
Kocher Retractors, 21 cm
Deep facial and neck incisions need a retractor with a long, stable blade. Kocher retractors are 21 cm hand retractors. They hold wound edges apart for maxillofacial and general surgical exposure. You can choose between two blade sizes, each in two catalogue styles.
40×11 mm Versus 55×11 mm
Both blades are 11 mm wide. The difference is depth: 40 mm or 55 mm. A 40 mm blade suits moderate incisions, such as submandibular access. Meanwhile, a 55 mm blade reaches further into deeper wounds. So pick the depth that matches the tissue thickness you usually retract.
Standard Pattern or Style 2
Two options carry the plain size (“40x11mm 21cm”, “55x11mm 21cm”). The other two add “Style 2”. Our supplier’s catalogue lists both styles with the same size data and gives no written difference. Therefore, treat them as two catalogue patterns, and compare the product photos for handle and blade shape before ordering.
Positioning for Steady Exposure
Seat the blade under the wound edge, then draw it back with steady pull. Also, angle the handle away from the surgeon’s line of sight. When the case runs long, have the assistant shift grip rather than tug harder. Because Kocher retractors are long, the assistant can stand back from the incision.
Condition on Arrival and Our Promise
This 21 cm Kocher comes non-sterile. Clean off the packing residue, then autoclave the retractor before its first case. Staff in our United States location inspect blade angle and finish on each unit. In addition, all four Kocher options include three years against manufacturing defects should the metal fail.
The steel complies with ASTM F899. For shallower blades and a ring-handle choice, see our Langenbeck retractors. Next, the wider maxillofacial surgery instruments range is worth a look, and our FAQs cover blade depth.
