Jovanovic Bone Scoops
A Jovanovic bone scoop lets the surgeon pick up hydrated graft particles and set them exactly where the defect needs them. The pattern is named after Dr. Sascha Jovanovic, a well known figure in implant dentistry. Our supplier catalogue files it with its bone scoops, next to LaBanca and Palacci designs.
From Bowl to Defect in One Pass
Particulate graft is hard to move with tweezers or a curette. A scoop, by contrast, carries a small measured load in its cup. Then the surgeon tips it into a socket, a dehiscence or a sinus window and packs it with another instrument. As a result, less material is wasted on the way.
Style 1 and Style 2
The catalogue lists two Jovanovic versions and names them only as separate items. We therefore sell them as Style 1 and Style 2. Because the catalogue gives no dimensions for either, please compare the photos on this page to see how the cups and shanks differ. Many surgeons buy both, then keep the one that suits their hand.
Practical Tips for Graft Handling
First, wet the graft fully in a bowl so the particles cling together. Next, load the cup without heaping it, since overfilled scoops spill on the way. Also, wipe the cup between passes when blood starts to build up.
- Socket preservation grafts
- Filling small buccal defects around implants
- Delivering graft through a lateral sinus window
Quality Review and Warranty
Both styles are inspected by our team in the United States before dispatch. Whichever style you pick, you have our assurance of three years against manufacturing defects on it. The scoops come non-sterile, so clean graft residue from the cup and sterilize them before use.
The stainless steel follows ASTM F899. See more dental implant instruments, prepare the graft first in our Bone Mixing Bowl, or consult the FAQs.
For trained implant clinicians and their surgical assistants. Our care and sterilization page explains reprocessing; shipping and delivery covers transit.
