Description
Perforated Impression Trays with Rim Lock
A perforated rim lock tray gives you two kinds of hold on the set material. The holes let alginate or elastomer push through and lock in place. Also, a raised bead runs along the border, so the edge of the impression stays seated when you pull the tray out.
Two Ways the Tray Grips
Perforations work well with alginate, because the paste flows through and forms small rivets. The rim lock then adds a stop at the margin. As a result, the impression is less likely to lift or tear at the flange. Many clinics still add adhesive for heavy-body elastomers.
Upper and Lower Sizes in Millimeters
You can order an upper or lower arch in XL, L, M, S, XS or XXS, which gives 12 options in all. Width A runs left to right, and B runs front to back.
- Upper XL 81×63, L 73×58, M 71×52 mm
- Upper S 67×53, XS 65×51, XXS 61×50 mm
- Lower XL 78×63, L 74×62, M 72×59 mm
- Lower S 70×57, XS 69×55, XXS 59×50 mm
Picking the Right Fit
Seat an empty tray over the arch as a first step. Aim for a few millimeters of room around the teeth. If the flange digs into soft tissue, drop one size. If the last molars sit outside, go up instead.
Handle and Daily Use
A straight handle with a hole lets you hang or tag each tray on a rack. Also, the steel keeps its shape under load, so the layer of material stays even.
Room for One Side Only?
For a single crown, a full arch is often more tray than you need. A lower sectional tray then makes more sense.
Out of the box, this perforated rim lock tray is non-sterile. Run it through your usual wash and autoclave cycle, then reuse it for years of cases.
