Ehricke Perforated Impression Trays

The Ehricke impression tray is a classic perforated pattern with a plain border and no rim lock. It comes in separate shapes for toothed, partly toothed and edentulous jaws. As a result, one tray system covers most adult cases and many children too.

Every Option in the Range

There are 21 options, grouped by jaw type and figure number:

• Upper toothed, Fig. 0 to 4, plus a narrow upper toothed Fig. 2
• Lower toothed, Fig. 0 to 4
• Upper and lower partially toothed, Fig. 1 and 2
• Upper and lower edentulous, Fig. 1 to 3

Reading the Figure Numbers

Fig. 0 is the children’s size. After that, higher numbers mean a larger tray. For example, an upper toothed Fig. 0 measures 59×52 mm, while Fig. 4 reaches 80×70 mm. On the lower side, toothed trays run from 65×46 mm to 79×61 mm.

Matching Shape to the Jaw

Toothed trays are deeper so they clear the crowns. By contrast, edentulous trays are flatter and follow the ridge. The partially toothed shapes sit in between, so they suit arches with gaps. In turn, the narrow upper helps where the palate is tight.

Retention Through the Holes

Since there is no rim lock, the perforations provide the hold. Alginate pushes through and then sets in place. For elastomers, you may also want a thin coat of adhesive.

Fitting Tips

First choose the shape for the jaw type. Then try two figure sizes and keep the one with even clearance.

Each Ehricke impression tray leaves us non-sterile. Once you clean and sterilize it, you can reuse it. We have these trays made to our specification and inspect them in the United States, and the stainless meets ASTM F899.
