Hollenback Filling Instruments
A Hollenback filling instrument carries restorative material into a preparation and presses it into place. Our supplier’s filling instruments page lists four Hollenback figures, and this listing includes all of them: H1, H2, H3 and H4. Intrace USA stocks the full run in Atlanta, Georgia.
Smooth Figures and the Serrated H4
The catalogue describes the H4 as serrated, while the other three carry no such note. Serrated working ends grip material slightly as they press, which can help with condensing. By contrast, smooth ends release material more easily when shaping a surface. Therefore, many clinicians pair the H4 with one of the smooth figures.
Telling H1, H2 and H3 Apart
The catalogue identifies these three by number only. Each number marks a different working-end profile within the Hollenback family. So the product photos are the best guide to shape and size. If you already use a Hollenback filling figure, start by matching that number, then add others as your technique requires.
A Placement Sequence That Works
Placement is easier when each step has its own instrument. First, carry an increment of material to the preparation. Next, press it against the walls and into the line angles. Then condense it in layers until the cavity is slightly overfilled. Finally, a carver shapes the surface. With a couple of Hollenback figures on the tray, the assistant can hand over the right end at each step.
Quality Checks and Warranty Terms
Each of the four figures is checked by eye by our people in the United States before dispatch. Also, H1 through H4 benefit from three years against manufacturing defects on the steel and finish. The instruments come unsterilized, so complete a full clean and sterilization cycle before restorative use.
Our steel follows ASTM F899. For more placement tools, see Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments. After placement, carve with the matching Hollenback Carvers. Our FAQs handle questions on orders and returns.
