Description
Hertz Extracting Forceps
Hertz extracting forceps cover two jobs in the lower arch. One version handles lower molars and wisdom roots. The other suits the lower incisors. Together they form a small, focused kit for the mandible.
Two versions, one arch
- Lower molars and wisdom roots: for back teeth and retained third molar roots.
- Lower incisors: for the narrow front teeth of the mandible.
- Both: a compact pair when you want the Hertz feel front to back.
We sell each version singly. First, match the version to the tooth group. Then decide whether you want both on one tray.
Lower incisors need care
Lower incisors are small, and their roots are thin from side to side. As a result, they can fracture under heavy rotation. Seat the beaks apically on root surface, then use small labial and lingual movements. Only add light rotation once the tooth moves.
Molars and wisdom roots
Lower molars sit in dense bone. The beaks seat on root surface, below the crown. Next, luxate with firm buccal and lingual pressure. For wisdom roots, take extra care near the lingual plate, and work slowly.
Hinge care and lubrication
A smooth joint gives better feel. So clean the hinge with a brush right after use. Then rinse it and let it dry all the way. Before sterilizing, add one drop of instrument milk or lubricant and work the handles a few times.
Signs it needs attention
Check the beaks for nicks or bends after each cycle. In addition, look for stiffness in the joint or play between the halves. If either appears, set the forceps aside and contact us.
Ordering details
The Hertz pattern is built to our own design and goes through a check in the United States. The steel in it complies with ASTM F899. Supplied non-sterile, it returns to use after every cleaning and sterilizer run. Each version earns three years against manufacturing defects, which our team honors gladly. See the wider range of extraction forceps, or add the lower incisor and canine figures. The Intrace FAQ explains ordering and returns.
