Suction settings and setup

Connect the ligator to a wall or portable suction unit with standard tubing. Then test the suction on your gloved palm before the first patient. During banding, cover the thumb port or trigger as the design requires, so tissue draws into the drum. Also, watch the collection jar, since blood and mucus can block the line. After each patient, flush the channel with water, because a partly blocked channel weakens the pull on the next case.

Flush the suction channel straight after use. Next, clean the drum and trigger area, then dry every part fully. Finally, check the channel is clear before sterilization.
