Enterotomy Scissors

Enterotomy scissors open the bowel along its length. One blade has a blunt tip, so it slides into the lumen without injuring the far wall.

Short sizes

The 11, 13 and 14 cm scissors come straight or curved. So you can choose the angle that suits your approach.

The 21 cm model

The longer 21 cm scissors reach into a deeper field. Therefore they suit open abdominal cases where the bowel sits further away.

Opening the bowel

Slide the blunt blade into the lumen, then advance the scissors along the wall. Because the blunt tip lifts the wall away from the far side, it protects the tissue beyond the cut. Also, cut in short, controlled strokes rather than one long snip. For small bowel, the shorter sizes give better control. Finally, keep a separate pair for bowel work, so the edges stay sharp. In addition, curved blades follow the bowel wall around a bend with less effort.

Clean the blades and joint after use. Next, dry them fully and check the cut on a test material before sterilization.
