Stone-Watt Intestinal and Anastomosis Clamp

The Stone-Watt clamp holds a bowel end during intestinal anastomosis. You choose between 7.5 cm and 10 cm.

7.5 cm or 10 cm

Choose the size by the diameter of the bowel you are working on. For example, a larger bowel usually needs the 10 cm clamp.

Applying the clamp

You place and close the clamp with Stone closing forceps. So order the forceps too if your team does not already have one.

Choosing and placing

Measure the bowel before you choose a size, since a clamp that is too small will not hold the full width. Then open the clamp with the closing forceps and place it square across the bowel. Also, check the jaws close evenly along their length. Because these clamps are small, count them onto and off the tray. Finally, remove each one with the forceps after the join is complete. In addition, store the clamps with their forceps in a small tray, so none go missing between cases.

Care of the Stone-Watt clamp

Clean the jaws and the spring after each case. Then dry the clamp fully and check it closes evenly before sterilization.
