Typical uses

It suits examination, hemorrhoid treatment and other anorectal work. Also, its long handles leave a clear line of sight to the field.

Getting a clear view

Warm the blades in water first, then add a water-based lubricant. Next, insert them closed and open them gently once they are in place. Then angle the instrument to bring each wall into view. An assistant can hold the handles while you work with both hands. Because the handles are long, keep an eye on how much force reaches the blades, since a small movement at the grip becomes a larger one at the tips.

Care of the Czerny rectal speculum

Avoid leaving it in saline, since salt can pit the surface. Instead, rinse it in clean water, clean the joint with a brush and dry it before sterilization.
