De Martel-Wolfson Clamp Holder

The De Martel clamp holder locks two De Martel-Wolfson clamps together. As a result, the two bowel ends sit side by side while you sew the anastomosis.

Long and short holders

This is the long 23 cm holder. By contrast, the short holder measures 8.5 cm and suits a more compact field. So choose by the depth of the operation.

How the system works

First, you place a clamp on each bowel end. Next, the holder joins the two clamps, which steadies the ends. Then you complete the suture line with both hands free.

Aligning the bowel ends

Once both clamps are on, join them in the holder so the bowel ends face each other. Then check the ends lie flat and square before you begin the suture line. Because the holder keeps both sides still, an assistant has less to hold. Also, release the holder and clamps together at the end, so neither side pulls on the new join. Finally, count every part back onto the tray.

Care of the De Martel clamp holder

Clean the holder and its locking parts after use. Then dry it fully and check the lock engages cleanly before sterilization.
