Heidbrink Root Tip Picks
Sometimes only a sliver of root remains at the base of the socket. Heidbrink root tip picks have a very fine point to tease out that last piece. You can choose single ended or double ended forms.
A point, not a blade
A pick works on a small scale. You place the point in the gap beside the tip and coax it up with tiny moves. Because the point is so fine, it reaches places a blade cannot. However, it is not for big roots or heavy force.
Five ways to buy
- H1 single ended: one fine pick on its own handle.
- H2 single ended: a second form of the pick.
- H3 single ended: a third form of the pick.
- H2-H3 double ended: both forms on one handle, a mirrored pair.
- Fig. 13/14 double ended: another mirrored pair on a single handle.
Single or double ended?
A single ended pick is light and simple to set down. A double ended pick, by contrast, saves a tool change when you need the mirror form for the other side. So if you work across both sides often, the H2-H3 or the 13/14 is a smart pick. If you favor one form, a single end is fine. Each option is sold on its own.
Teasing out the tip
Rest your hand firmly so the point stays in control. Next, slip it into the ligament space and lift the fragment with small turns. Never push the tip toward the sinus or a nerve. Also, do not lever on a tooth that is staying.
Protecting the point
A fine point can bend if you drop it or pry with it. Thus, store each pick so the tip does not touch other steel. Check it after each cycle.
How we supply it
Picks travel to you non-sterile; once you clean and sterilize them they can return to your tray for later cases. Each pick uses steel that meets ASTM F899, and each gets a bench check in the United States before dispatch. If a material or making fault shows, our cover lasts a full span: three years against manufacturing defects. For larger root tips, try the Heidbrink elevators. Other options sit in our extraction elevators, and our FAQ covers ordering.
