Description
Heidbrink Root Elevators
Heidbrink root elevators are fine tools for root tips that a broad elevator cannot reach. We offer seven figures, so you can build a tray that suits your cases. Each figure is a single tool you can order alone.
The seven figures
- Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3: the plain numbered forms.
- Fig. 1H and Fig. 2H: the H versions of the first two numbers.
- Fig. 40H and Fig. 41H: two more H figures.
No figure here belongs to one tooth only. Rather, test a few and hold on to those that feel natural.
Elevator or pick?
We also sell Heidbrink picks. A pick has a very fine point for the tiniest slivers. These elevators, by contrast, carry a small blade for a root tip with a bit more body. Many dentists start with the elevator, then switch to a pick for the final piece.
Choosing your first figures
Start with the cases you see most. If you remove upper roots often, pick the figures that reach them without strain. Then add others as gaps show up. As a result, you spend only on the tools you use.
Hand position and force
Set a finger rest on firm tissue near the site. Then work the tip down the ligament space and rotate it to wedge the root up. Keep the force light and steady. Do not use a neighbor tooth as a fulcrum unless it is also due out. Care here also keeps the buccal plate intact for a future implant.
Sharp and straight
A fine elevator works best with a true, crisp tip. So check each figure after cleaning, and hone it gently if the edge rounds. Retire any tip that has bent.
Getting your Heidbrink tray
We produce these to our own specification using stainless steel per ASTM F899. Your order comes non-sterile, and each figure is reusable after you take it through cleaning and sterilization. Should a defect from manufacture turn up, the figure stays covered three years against manufacturing defects by our warranty. For the tiniest pieces, add the matching Heidbrink picks. Our root elevator section has other patterns, and frequently asked questions explain the order steps.
