Description
Hartmann Forceps, 10 cm
A compact hemostat earns its spot on any oral surgery tray. These hartmann forceps measure 10 cm and lock onto small vessels with a ratchet, which frees your hands while bleeding settles. Since the instrument is short, it sits comfortably within the mouth without crowding other tools.
Where the Hartmann Fits Among Hemostats
The supplier catalogue places the Hartmann in its haemostatic forceps section, alongside the micro mosquito and towel clamps. In that group, it is a small, light clamp for fine work. For that reason, clinicians reach for it when a full-size hemostat would feel heavy or block the view.
Straight or Curved Jaws
- Straight: the tips line up with the handles, so you aim directly at the vessel.
- Curved: the jaws bend to one side, letting you approach from an angle and see past your hand.
If most of your work is superficial and in front of you, choose Straight. When vessels lie under a flap edge or deep in a socket, however, the Curved version usually reaches more easily.
Uses in Oral Surgery
Beyond clamping bleeders, the Hartmann holds small tissue tags during excision and grasps loose fragments. It also helps when you need to stabilize a suture end while tying. In short, it is a small multipurpose clamp.
Hartmann Steel and Inspection
The forceps are stainless steel. Before dispatch, a technician in the United States checks that the jaws meet evenly and the ratchet holds at each step. They arrive unsterilized; first wash them, then autoclave before patient use. Both jaw shapes of the Hartmann are covered three years against manufacturing defects, including the box joint.
The ASTM F899 standard explains instrument steel. Also explore our maxillofacial surgery range, or pair the Hartmann with the toothed options in Micro Mosquito Forceps. Questions? Visit the FAQs.
