These Featherlite castroviejo style scissors give periodontists and oral surgeons a delicate, curved cutting tool for fine soft tissue work. At 14 cm overall, they reach posterior sites while keeping the fingers outside the mouth. Castroviejo-pattern scissors typically use a spring action, so they usually open and close with light finger pressure rather than ring handles.

The curve lets the tips follow the arch and wrap around a tooth contour. As a result, the surgeon can trim a papilla or a suture tail without twisting the wrist. Also, the curve keeps the line of sight open, because the hand stays to one side of the cut.
