Sometimes you only need to replace one tool. Our Winter forceps Fig. W1 is one American-pattern tool meant for upper centrals and canines. It slots into an existing kit without any extra pieces.

One Figure for the Upper Front

Upper anterior forceps are generally straight. That shape matches the line of the upper front teeth, so you can grip and move them in one axis. Fig. W1 follows this idea for central incisors and canines. Because it is a single item, there are no sizes or handles to choose from.

American Numbering in Brief

American-pattern forceps follow US-style numbers, such as 150 or 151. English-pattern forceps follow European figure numbers instead. So if your team learned on US charts, W1 will sit well with the rest of your tools. However, it works fine alongside English figures too.

Handling the Canine

The upper canine has a long, strong root. For this reason, grip high on the root, above the enamel line. Next, use slow labial and palatal moves, then a gentle rotation once the tooth starts to give. Finally, deliver it along the long axis.

Grip Tips

Hold the handles in your palm with the thumb resting near the joint. Also stand slightly to the side so your wrist stays straight. This keeps your force under control.
