Description
Upper Canine & Premolar Forceps
These upper canine & premolar forceps handle the teeth between the lateral incisor and the first molar. It shares a series with our Koehler luxation tools. So it pairs well with them in one upper tray.
Part of the Koehler series
Some dentists like one family of instruments across a case. In that setting, this figure covers the upper canine and premolar zone. Meanwhile, the Koehler luxation forceps handle the early loosening stage. Using one series keeps the grip and feel the same from step to step.
Teeth it suits
- Canines of the upper arch, with their long single roots.
- First premolars, which often have two roots.
- Second premolars, which usually have one root.
This is a single item with no options. You order one instrument, and it arrives ready for processing.
The canine challenge
No tooth in the mouth carries a longer root than the upper canine. Because of that, it needs patience. Grip it high on the root, well past the crown. Next, press slowly toward the cheek and toward the palate. Add only a little rotation once the tooth loosens.
Premolar care
A two-rooted first premolar can fracture if you twist it. Instead, rely on buccal and palatal luxation. After the socket expands, deliver the tooth with a light buccal pull.
Joint and beak check
Ahead of every case, squeeze the forceps shut and sight down the tips for an even meeting. Work the joint through its range as well. It should swing freely, with no grit or catch.
Supply, steel and cover
The piece follows our specification, with quality review done in the United States. Its stainless steel satisfies ASTM F899. Delivery is non-sterile, though it goes back into service many times after reprocessing. A defect in making is our problem, and this item carries three years against manufacturing defects.
