Description
Root & Fragment Forceps, T.C., Straight Fig. 00
Fig. 00 is a set of straight carbide fragment forceps for roots and small pieces. Its tips carry a T.C. coating, which gives a hard working surface for grip. It comes as a single item, and it pairs well with a curved partner.
What the T.C. coating adds
T.C. stands for tungsten carbide. On these tips it adds a hard layer where the forceps meet the root. As a result, the grip surface resists wear. It also helps the tips hold small, smooth pieces that tend to slip.
Straight versus curved
This page covers the straight figure only. Its sibling is the curved Lindo-Levian Fig. 01. So the choice comes down to access. A straight shaft suits sites you can see in line, while a curve helps you reach round a corner.
Jobs it suits
- Lifting a root once an elevator has loosened it
- Retrieving a fragment after a crown fractures
- Clearing a small piece from a socket before closure
A short workflow
Straight carbide fragment forceps work best on a loose root. First, free it with an elevator or by sectioning. Next, clear the field with suction. Then seat the tips on the root surface and close with light pressure. Finally, draw the piece out along its long axis. Because the tips grip well, you rarely need force.
Carbide surfaces and reprocessing
Treat the coated tips with care. For example, avoid harsh abrasive pads, since they can dull the surface. Instead, use a soft brush and an ultrasonic bath. After that, dry the forceps well before you sterilize them.
Delivery and our guarantee
We specify every detail of Fig. 00, and a US team inspects it. Its stainless steel matches the norms of ASTM F899. The forceps come non-sterile; following cleaning and sterilization, you may reuse them for many cases. Carbide tips and joint alike enjoy three years against manufacturing defects, letting you return a flawed piece free. Add the curved Lindo-Levian Fig. 01 for full reach, or see our extracting forceps line. Billing and order help is on the FAQ page.
