Description

Lindo-Levian Root & Fragment Forceps, T.C., Fig. 01

Roots and fragments that break off below the gum line need a slim, curved tip and a sure grip. Our Lindo-Levian root forceps, Fig. 01, offers both: a curved working end and a T.C. coating on the tips.

Why the curve matters

A curved tip lets you reach past the crown of a neighbor tooth and still line up with a root deep in the socket. In addition, it keeps your fingers further from your view than a straight tip would. So this figure suits fragments in awkward spots. For straight access, its sibling Fig. 00 has a straight tip instead.

Carbide where the grip happens

The letters T.C. mean tungsten carbide. On this forceps the carbide sits on the working tips, where grip matters most. Carbide is harder than plain stainless steel, so the tip surface tends to hold its texture longer. That said, it is still a fine tip, and it needs gentle handling.

A typical fragment sequence

  • Loosen the fragment with a fine elevator or periotome.
  • Seat the curved tips on root surface, below the fracture line.
  • Rock gently and add slight rotation once the fragment gives.
  • Lift it out and check the socket for any remaining pieces.

Care of the coated tips

Clean the tips with a soft brush rather than a wire brush, so you protect the coating. Then dry the forceps and oil the hinge before sterilization. Also, look at the tips under good light from time to time. If you ever see a chip in the coating, tell us about it.

Ordering Fig. 01

We make each Lindo-Levian root forceps to our specification, and a team member inspects it in the United States. Its stainless steel body meets ASTM F899. If a fault in workmanship appears, our term of three years against manufacturing defects takes care of it. It arrives non-sterile, but a scrub and a sterilizer cycle make it ready to use again. See the straight Fig. 00 root and fragment forceps, browse other extracting forceps, or open our questions page.
