Description
Lower Third Molar Forceps, Fig. 00
Lower wisdom teeth sit at the back of the mandible, where access and vision are tight. Our Fig. 00 third molar forceps is a single figure for that job. It comes from the same catalogue series as our Koehler luxation forceps, so it sits well in the same kit.
What we can say about this figure
We list it simply as Fig. 00 for lower third molars, and we would rather not describe a shape we cannot confirm. Instead, the notes below explain how lower third molar figures work in general.
Lower third molars in general
Like other lower forceps, a lower molar figure has beaks at about a right angle to the handles. Lower molar beaks carry points that aim for the bifurcation between the mesial and distal roots. However, third molar roots are often fused or curved, so the bifurcation may be shallow or absent. That is why many cases start with an elevator, and some need sectioning first.
Pairing it with Koehler forceps
Since it shares a series with the Koehler luxation forceps, keep the Fig. 00 third molar forceps on the same tray. For example, you might loosen the tooth with a Koehler first, then switch to Fig. 00 to deliver it. We sell both singly.
A few checks before the first case
- Confirm the beaks close evenly with no gap on one side.
- Work the joint a few times to feel for smooth motion.
- Look for burrs on the beak edges under good light.
Hand position at the back of the arch
Stand where you can see the distal side of the tooth. Then rest your palm under the handles with your index finger near the joint. Meanwhile, your other hand supports the mandible and feels when the roots begin to give.
Order notes for Fig. 00
We write the specification for this forceps, and our US team looks it over before shipment. Its stainless steel conforms with ASTM F899. Any flaw from production is ours to fix for a span of three years against manufacturing defects. You receive it non-sterile; one proper wash and sterilizer run then preps it for many more cases. Pair it with the Koehler luxation forceps, view our dental extracting forceps, or read our frequent questions.
