Description
Ermert Wax Knife
The Ermert wax knife is a 13 cm hand tool for cutting, trimming and smoothing dental wax. Technicians use it on bite rims, denture set-ups and wax patterns, while dentists keep one for chairside adjustments to record blocks. Our supplier catalogue lists it on its wax knives page, under the Ermert name and one size.
One Size, Ready to Reorder
This listing offers only the 13 cm Ermert, so there are no figures to compare. That simplicity helps a lab replace a worn knife without hunting through options. If you would like to see the blade shape before ordering, the product photos show the exact pattern.
Working Warm Wax Cleanly
Many technicians warm the blade over a flame or heater before cutting, because heated steel glides through hard wax without chipping it. However, overheating can scorch wax and leave residue on the knife. So warm it gradually and wipe it on a cloth between passes. Then let it cool on a heat-safe rest rather than on the bench top.
Where 13 cm Feels Right
At 13 cm the knife is long enough to keep fingers clear of a hot blade. Also, it stays compact enough for fine work on a small pattern. For example, it can trim an occlusal rim to height and then refine a lingual contour without a tool change.
Behind the Blade
The knife is made from stainless steel to ASTM F899. One of our people in the United States checks the blade edge and handle polish of every Ermert before shipping. Our cover runs three years against manufacturing defects in that steel or its finish; scorch marks from flame heating are normal wear. It arrives non-sterile, so if it will be used in the mouth, clean and autoclave it before that first case.
