Description
Emesis Basin
The curve of a kidney basin lets it sit snug against the cheek, neck or side. This stainless emesis basin uses that classic shape. It catches rinse water, spit, fluids and small used items. Because it is solid stainless, it cleans up fast and lasts.
The Shape Explained
One long edge curves inward. That edge hugs the patient, so less liquid runs past. The other edge bows out to hold more. As a result, a patient can hold it alone while sitting up.
Choosing a Length
Sizes read length × width × depth in inches.
- 6 × 3-1/2 × 1-1/2 in: small, for a dental rinse or a few swabs.
- 8 × 3-3/4 × 1-5/8 in: a common chairside size.
- 10 × 4-5/8 × 2-1/8 in: deeper, for more fluid.
- 12 × 5-1/2 × 2-1/4 in: the largest, for ward or recovery use.
So a dental office may stock the two small sizes. A surgery or recovery room often adds the larger ones.
Other Jobs It Does
Besides catching fluids, staff use the basin to hold used gauze or tools for a short time. It also works as a small soak tray. However, it is open, so cover items if they must stay clean.
After Each Patient
Empty the stainless emesis basin and rinse it at once. Then wash it with a detergent and dry it. Never let fluids dry on the steel.
Sending It Back Through the Cycle
The basin ships non-sterile. Clean it, then send it through your normal steam cycle. In turn, it is ready for reuse.
Assurance and Links
Our team writes the spec, and the basins pass a check in the United States. For steel, we follow ASTM F899. Each basin size has a warranty term of three years against manufacturing defects.
