Description
Disc System Self-Aspirating Syringe, Black Wings
This black wing disc syringe lets you check for blood without pulling back on a ring. Load one standard 1.8 ml cartridge, rest two fingers on the wings, and work in one smooth press and release.
What the Disc Does at the Cartridge End
Each cartridge has a thin rubber diaphragm at the needle end. In this model, a disc in the syringe head meets that diaphragm. When you press the thumb rest, the diaphragm flexes. Then, as you ease off, the rubber springs back. That small rebound gives a gentle draw, so you can look for blood in the glass.
Why Some Clinicians Leave the Thumb Ring
With a manual syringe, you aspirate by pulling a thumb ring back. That works, but the hand must change direction mid-injection. Here, you simply relax your thumb instead. For this reason, clinicians who give many blocks may prefer the passive method.
Black Wings at a Glance
The wings sit where your index and middle fingers rest. Because they are black, they stand out against the steel barrel. So the black wing disc syringe is easy to pick out and grip by sight.
Blocks and Infiltrations With the Disc Model
Aspiration matters most where a vessel lies close to the target, as in the inferior alveolar block. However, the syringe also suits buccal infiltration.
- Takes standard 1.8 ml cartridges
- Disc system for passive aspiration
- Black wing finger grip
- Ships non-sterile; reusable after cleaning and sterilisation
From Tray to Sterilizer
Seat a cartridge and fit a needle before each patient. After use, take off both first. Then clean, dry and sterilize the syringe under your clinic protocol. The black-wing Disc syringe ships non-sterile, so clean and autoclave it ahead of its first block.
Ordering and Cover
Every black-wing Disc syringe carries three years against manufacturing defects, aspiration disc included. Beyond that, the steel parts meet ASTM F899 for surgical stainless steel. We have it made to our own specification and check it in the United States. Browse the full range of dental anaesthesia syringes, or compare the grey wing disc model. Questions on Disc aspiration are answered on our FAQ page.
