DeBakey-Bahnson Atrauma Cardiovascular Aneurysm Clamp

The DeBakey-Bahnson clamp gives surgeons control of the aorta during aneurysm repair. Its three lengths run from 23 to 25 cm, one centimeter apart.

For aneurysm repair

Surgeons place clamps on healthy aorta beyond each end of an aneurysm before opening the sac. So flow stays stopped while they sew in a graft. Meanwhile, the atraumatic jaws spare the wall they grip.

Three long sizes

You can choose 23, 24 or 25 cm. Also, all three give good reach into the abdomen or chest. The one-centimeter steps let you fine-tune length to the patient.

Gentle but secure

Aortic walls near an aneurysm can feel thin or hard with calcium. Therefore, a gentle grip lowers the chance of tearing them. Yet this clamp still holds firmly enough to control aortic pressure.

Working with other clamps

A second clamp usually sits on the far side of the aneurysm. In that case, the DeBakey-Bahnson clamp can team up with a Morris-DeBakey aortic clamp. Plus, matched lengths keep the two handles level.

Reprocessing DeBakey-Bahnson clamp

Separate this clamp from the rest of the set before you begin cleaning. Then wash it with the jaws apart and brush the full length of each jaw. Once dry, keep it in an extended tray so nothing presses on the tips.
