Description
Coupland & Schmeckebier Root Elevator Set, 5 Pieces
Our Coupland & Schmeckebier elevators combine three straight gouge blades with an angled pair. The result is a five-piece tray that handles both direct and side access. Dentists who like a scooped blade often choose it.
The Coupland gouge, explained
First, a Coupland blade has a hollow, gouge-like face. Then you push it into the space around a root and turn it slightly. Thus it can widen the gap and start to lift. Here you get Fig. 1 at 3 mm, Fig. 2 at 3.5 mm and Fig. 3 at 4 mm, so you can move up in width as the space opens.
Adding angled reach
Straight blades struggle at the back of the mouth. For that reason, the set adds Schmeckebier Fig. 4 left and Fig. 5 right, both at 3.5 mm. Their angled shanks reach molar roots from the side, so your hand keeps clear of the lips.
A simple order of work
- Begin with the 3 mm Coupland to enter the space.
- Next, step to 3.5 or 4 mm as the root starts to give.
- Change to a Schmeckebier when the root sits far back or needs a side push.
How it compares with other root kits
Some sets offer more shapes, for example bayonets. Still, this one keeps things simple with graded widths plus a handed pair. So the Coupland & Schmeckebier elevators fit clinicians who already prefer a gouge-style blade.
Five at once beats five singles
Also, the graded Couplands only work well as a run of sizes. So buying them together, along with the pair, means no gaps in that run. Plus, one shipment and one invoice keep things tidy.
Build, cover and further reading
As for steel, we use stainless steel that complies with ASTM F899. Production follows our own specification, and a team in the United States inspects each set. The set ships non-sterile but is fully reusable after cleaning and sterilization. The Coupland and Schmeckebier set has three years against manufacturing defects, dated from its arrival. For a different mix, the Hylin four-piece set is close in size. Browse all clinical sets or check the Intrace FAQs.
Strictly for professional use. Coupland and Schmeckebier care sits in our sterilization notes, and our shipping and delivery details are one click away.
