Chevalier Jackson Broncho-Esophagoscopy Forceps
Chevalier Jackson forceps are long forceps for use through a rigid bronchoscope or esophagoscope. Surgeons use them to grasp foreign bodies or take tissue from the airway or esophagus.
Working through a rigid scope
A rigid scope gives a straight channel into the airway or esophagus. Therefore, the forceps need a long, slim shaft to pass down it. The jaw then acts at the far end while the surgeon watches through the scope.
Four lengths
We offer 30 cm, 40 cm, 50 cm and 60 cm lengths. Shorter lengths suit shorter scopes. In contrast, the 50 and 60 cm versions match longer scopes for deeper reach.
Matching the scope
The forceps must be longer than the scope they pass through. So first check the working length of your bronchoscope or esophagoscope. Then pick forceps that extend past its tip.
