Shaaf cilia forceps are eyelash forceps for epilation. Eye care clinicians use them to take hold of one lash and pull it out cleanly.

Why a dedicated lash forceps

A general tissue forceps can struggle to hold a single fine hair. Instead, cilia forceps have tips that close accurately on a lash. That precision makes removal quicker and more comfortable.

Size

We list the Shaaf pattern at 10 cm. That length gives a secure grip for most hands. Also, it keeps the fingers a short distance from the patient’s face.

Typical situations

Clinicians use lash forceps when a lash rubs on the eye, as in trichiasis. They may also remove lashes before some lid procedures. In both cases, the work happens close to the eye, so control matters.

Comparing patterns

The Shaaf, Beer and Douglas forceps share the 10 cm size in our range. However, each pattern feels slightly different in the hand. If you want a shorter tool, the 8 cm Littauer is an option.

Caring for your Shaaf cilia forceps

Clean the tips after every use, then wash the whole forceps with a mild detergent. Next, rinse and check tip alignment under good light. Dry the instrument thoroughly before sterilization.
