Description
Heymann Scissors
Heymann scissors are ENT scissors for use in the nose and throat. Surgeons use them to trim mucosa, cartilage and other soft tissue where access is narrow.
A tonsil and nasal pattern
We class the Heymann as a tonsil and nasal instrument. So it can join either tray, depending on the day’s list. Many ENT teams value tools that cross over like this.
18 cm long
The scissors measure 18 cm. That length lets the blades reach deep into the nasal cavity or the oropharynx. Meanwhile, the finger rings stay comfortably outside.
Where surgeons use them
In nasal surgery, surgeons may trim septal cartilage or turbinate mucosa. Then, in the throat, they can free tissue during tonsil work. Both jobs call for controlled cuts in tight spaces.
Comparing with similar scissors
The Knight and the Heymann-Knight patterns cover similar ground. However, each surgeon has a favorite feel and blade view. So, for a side-by-side view, write to us and we will explain the differences we know.
Caring for your Heymann scissors
Rinse off blood and mucus soon after surgery. Then scrub the blades and hinge with a soft brush, and look for any nicks along the cutting edge. Dry them thoroughly before they go to sterilization.
