Description

Laryngeal Mirror, Plain

A plain laryngeal mirror lets a clinician look at the larynx and throat indirectly. The clinician places the mirror at the back of the mouth and views the reflected image with a light.

Indirect laryngoscopy

The larynx sits around a bend from the mouth. So a small angled mirror reflects light down and returns the view up. As a result, the clinician can see the vocal cords without a scope.

Twelve mirror sizes

We offer mirror sizes of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28 and 30 mm. Small mirrors suit the nasopharynx and small mouths. In contrast, large mirrors give a wider view of the larynx.

With or without handle

Each size comes with a handle or without one, which gives 24 options in total. Clinicians who already own handles can order the mirror alone. Meanwhile, new users may prefer the combined version.

Choosing sizes

Many ENT clinics keep a range of sizes, because patients vary. For example, a set might include 16, 20 and 24 mm mirrors. Warm the mirror slightly before use, so it does not fog.

Caring for your laryngeal mirror

Wipe the mirror face gently after each patient, and avoid abrasive pads. Then wash the plain laryngeal mirror in a mild detergent. Finally, dry it with a soft cloth and sterilize it by your usual method.
