Buser Modified Periodontal Chisels
The Buser periodontal chisel in its modified form is a staple of guided bone and membrane surgery. It shapes crestal bone and lifts fine tags with hand control. We list six choices on this page. Three come from the supplier’s implant and membrane kit, and three come from its implant chisel series.
The Three Kit Patterns
The kit versions carry the classic numbers:
- #1/2, Kit Pattern.
- #1/3, Kit Pattern.
- #2/3, Kit Pattern.
These numbers follow the traditional Buser numbering. The catalogue gives no blade widths for these three. So compare the photos to see each end before you order.
Chisels Listed by Blade Width
The second group states its widths. First, the #1/3 Chisel pairs a 3 mm end with a 5 mm end. Next, the #2/3 Chisel pairs 4 mm with 5 mm. Finally, the plain Chisel, 3/4 mm, combines a 3 mm end with a 4 mm end. Because each tool carries two widths, you switch sizes by turning it around.
How Surgeons Usually Choose
If you already own a membrane kit, match its numbers with the kit patterns. That keeps your tray consistent. On the other hand, a surgeon building a new set often prefers the width-labelled chisels. Then you know exactly which end fits a narrow crest. A 3/4 mm chisel is a sensible first purchase for fine work.
All six use stainless steel that meets the ASTM F899 standard. Before packing, our team in the United States checks every edge on these Buser ends. We back them for three years against manufacturing defects, kit pattern and width-labelled versions alike. For professional dental use by trained clinicians. These chisels come non-sterile; first clean and autoclave them as our sterilization instructions describe. Shipping times are listed on Shipping and Delivery.
