Description
Braun Tenaculum Forceps
Braun tenaculum forceps grasp and steady the cervix during gynecologic procedures. We offer the pattern in a short 15 cm length and a long 25 cm length.
What a tenaculum does
A tenaculum holds the cervix firmly so it does not move. As a result, the clinician can pass a sound, dilator or other instrument in a straight line. The ratchet keeps the grip without constant hand pressure.
Two lengths
The 15 cm version suits work close to the introitus. On the other hand, the 25 cm version reaches further and keeps the hand well clear of the speculum. Both lengths have straight jaws.
On the procedure tray
Clinics often keep a tenaculum with every gynecology exam tray. For example, it is a routine part of IUD insertion and endometrial sampling. Having both lengths lets staff choose to suit the patient.
Choosing a pattern
We stock several tenaculum patterns with different jaws and lengths. So if you already favor one style, compare it with the Braun before you switch. Send us the pattern you use now and we will point you to the closest match.
Caring for Braun tenaculum forceps
Open the forceps fully and rinse the jaws soon after use. Next, brush the box joint and ratchet teeth to clear any tissue. Then dry the forceps and store them with the ratchet open.
