Description
Schroeder Tenaculum Forceps
Schroeder tenaculum forceps hold the cervix with toothed jaws. We list them at 23, 24 and 25 cm, and the two shorter sizes come straight or curved.
Toothed jaws
The teeth set into the tissue and stop the cervix from slipping. Therefore the clinician can apply steady traction while working through the canal. The ratchet then holds that grip on its own.
Straight or curved
A straight tenaculum gives a direct line of pull. By contrast, a curved one angles the handles away from the speculum so the view stays open. Both shapes are available at 23 and 24 cm.
Three lengths
The 23, 24 and 25 cm sizes differ only a little. Still, a slightly longer tool can help with a deeper cervix or a larger speculum. The 25 cm option is a single, standard version.
Where it is used
Gynecologists reach for this pattern during dilation and curettage, IUD insertion and cervical biopsy. For instance, it steadies the cervix while a sound measures the uterine depth. Many clinics keep one on every procedure tray.
Schroeder tenaculum forceps care
Rinse the teeth and joint right after use. Then brush between the teeth, where tissue tends to collect. Finally, dry the forceps well and store them unlocked.
