Bone Scraper SL5F, Curved
Small grafts often need only a modest amount of the patient’s own bone. A curved bone scraper collects that bone from a cortical surface close to the surgical field, without a separate donor procedure. The SL5F model measures 155 mm and is listed in our supplier catalogue as a curved scraper of stainless steel.
Why the Shaft Is Curved
The curve lets the operator follow rounded bony contours such as the external oblique ridge. As a result, the cutting edge keeps steady contact and the knuckles stay clear of the view. A straight scraper would often meet the cheek or teeth first.
Harvesting Shavings Near the Implant Site
First, expose a flat or gently convex area of cortical bone. Next, draw the scraper toward you in firm, even strokes. Then collect the curled shavings and keep them moist until placement. Because the bone comes from the same flap, the patient avoids a second surgical site in many cases.
Choosing the 155 mm Length
At 155 mm, the instrument reaches posterior areas while keeping the stroke under control. So it suits both ramus and maxillary tuberosity access. Its length also allows a full palm grip for steady pressure.
Clearing Bone From the Edge
Retained bone dries quickly on any scraping surface. Therefore, rinse the working end soon after use and brush it before it goes to the ultrasonic cleaner.
Our technicians in the United States inspect every curved bone scraper before shipment. The SL5F scraper is backed by three years against manufacturing defects. It is delivered non-sterile and must be sterilized before harvesting.
The stainless steel meets ASTM F899 for stainless surgical instruments. See related grafting tools in the maxillofacial surgery instruments category, and pack the harvested shavings with our graft packer. The customer FAQ page covers order details.
