Description
Bone Graft Scoop
Graft material is expensive, and every granule dropped on the drape is lost. A bone graft scoop moves particulate graft from the bowl to the site in controlled portions. The supplier catalogue lists it in its bone scoop group, alongside Jovanovic and LaBanca patterns. This one is the plain, general purpose design.
Where a Scoop Beats a Syringe
A syringe or carrier works well for a narrow socket. However, a scoop is quicker when the defect is open and broad, such as a lateral ridge augmentation. It also lets the surgeon see exactly how much material is going in. Many trays therefore carry both. Also, a scoop is easy to wipe between loads, so graft does not build up on it.
One Pattern, Judged From the Photos
Our supplier prints no measurements beside this scoop. So please check the photos for cup size and shank angle before ordering. If your technique needs a particular depth or width, the Jovanovic scoops and LaBanca curettes offer alternatives in the same family.
Placing and Packing Graft
First, load a small portion from the bowl. Next, deliver it to the deepest part of the defect. Then, condense it with a packer before adding the next layer. Working in layers usually keeps the graft even. Each step, of course, follows the clinician’s own protocol.
Steel, Inspection and Warranty
The scoop is surgical stainless steel. Before shipping, our United States team checks the cup rim and shank for burrs. It arrives non-sterile, so sterilize the scoop before it touches any graft material. In addition, if the cup or shank ever shows a fault traced to production, three years against manufacturing defects coverage lets us replace your bone graft scoop.
The steel specification is ASTM F899. Explore the dental implant instruments category, condense each layer with a graft packer, or check our FAQs.
