Description

Adson-Brown Tissue Forceps

Where a standard Adson has a single tooth or plain serration, the Brown tip carries two rows of small teeth along each jaw edge. That multi-tooth bite spreads pressure, so adson brown forceps hold delicate flaps firmly with less crushing at any one point. Oral surgeons and periodontists use them for flap retraction, suturing and graft handling. Four versions are listed on this page.

7:7 Versus 9:9 Teeth

The ratio gives the tooth count on each row of the jaw. A 7:7 tip has seven teeth per side, so each tooth is slightly larger. Then a 9:9 tip packs nine teeth into the same width, giving a finer, denser grip. Many clinicians choose 7:7 for thicker palatal tissue and 9:9 for thin, friable mucosa. Still, personal preference plays a big part.

Straight, Curved and the Longer Brown

  • 12 cm, 5″ Tissue, 7:7 Teeth: the compact straight pattern with larger teeth
  • 12 cm, 5″ Tissue, 9:9 Teeth: the same length with the finer tooth row
  • 12 cm, 5″ Teeth 9:9 Curved: angled jaws that keep your view clear around arches
  • 15 cm, 6″ Straight, 9:9 Teeth: listed in the catalogue simply as Brown, for longer reach

Matching the Brown Tip to the Procedure

For anterior grafts the 12 cm straight forceps keep your fingers close to the work. When the site sits behind the canine, the curved model often gives a better line of sight. Meanwhile, the 15 cm Brown suits posterior flaps, palatal harvesting and general surgical fields.

Our staff in the United States examines the teeth and alignment on each Adson-Brown before it leaves. In addition, Intrace USA warrants every Brown pattern for three years against manufacturing defects such as misaligned rows or a weak spring. Since they ship unsterilized, scrub and steam them first.

Their stainless steel is made to the ASTM F899 surgical steel specification. Browse more Adson-type forceps, or for a single-tooth or serrated grip see our Adson / Micro-Adson Forceps. Answers on ordering live in the FAQs section.
