Description
Williams Periodontal Probes
The Williams periodontal probe is the classic marked probe for measuring sulcus and pocket depth. Its traditional scale skips the 4 and 6 mm lines, marking 1 to 3, then 5, then 7 to 10 mm. This page gathers 17 Williams-family options, so it is worth sorting them by group.
Plain Williams and the CP Markings
Plain is the standard Williams probe. The CP-11 and CP-12 options carry CP-style markings, and CP-12 is widely read at 3, 6, 9 and 12 mm. Our supplier prints CP-C and CP-12S, O.M.S. on the same page, plus a 26 G Williams pocket probe. Because the catalogue prints no scale for CP-C, CP-11 or CP-12S, compare their photos.
Figure Numbers: 3, 16, 17 and 23
On a second probe page, our supplier shows four Williams figures, numbered 3, 16, 17 and 23. Two combination options, Fig. 23/CP-11 and Fig. 23/CP-12, then join that pattern with CP-11 or CP-12 markings. So, if your charting uses CP markings on a Fig. 23 form, those two are the match.
Colour-Coded Williams Options
Five options are colour-coded, which makes bands easier to read at a glance. The basic Colour-Coded option is single-ended, while Colour-Coded, Double-Ended adds a second end. Next, CP-12, Colour-Coded reads 3, 6, 9 and 12 mm, and CP-11.5B, Colour-Coded is another CP marking in colour. Finally, Explorer/CP-12, Colour-Coded pairs an explorer end with a CP-12 probe end.
Picking One Scale for the Practice
First, decide which scale your charts use. Then order that marking for every operatory, because mixed scales make readings harder to compare over time.
Williams Probe Steel and Warranty
All 17 Williams options are stainless steel, and each one passes a United States hand check before we pack it. Williams probes reach you unsterilized; clean and autoclave every CP or Fig. pattern before charting. Every Williams option is backed by three years against manufacturing defects, markings included.
Steel follows ASTM F899 on the FDA standards database. Browse our periodontal and diagnostic category, compare the Goldman-Fox Periodontal Probes, and read the FAQs.
