Description
West Root Elevators
West root elevators come as two double-ended instruments, Fig. 2/3 and Fig. 5/6. Each one carries two working ends, so a single handle covers two figures. They come from our surgical list and suit routine root removal when you want fewer handles on the tray.
Two Ends on One Handle
A double-ended elevator halves the number of handles you lay out. You flip the instrument instead of grabbing a fresh one. As a result, the tray stays lean and your hand stays in place. However, both ends need cleaning and sterilisation every time, even if you only used one.

- Both pairs: four figures on two handles
We do not pick a pair for you from a chart. Instead, try each pair on the roots you see most and keep the one that feels right. You can buy either pair on its own, so adding the second later is simple.
Technique With a West Pair
With West root elevators, seat the end in the PDL space and keep a finger rest near the tooth. Then use small wedging or turning moves. Let the root rise slowly rather than forcing it. Also, keep the next tooth clear of the lever path unless you plan to take it as well. Where an implant will follow, guard the buccal plate.
Looking After Both Working Ends
One end can wear faster than the other, since most hands favor one figure. Brush both tips before blood dries. Then look them over for burrs or a bent edge.
Buying and Support
Our West pairs follow our own specification, and a US team inspects every one. The stainless steel meets ASTM F899. Each pair ships non-sterile, and after a full clean and sterile cycle it is ready to use again. If a making fault turns up, every West pair carries a written pledge: three years against manufacturing defects.
