Description
Weight For Scherbak Vaginal Speculum
This Scherbak speculum weight is a component for the Scherbak weighted vaginal speculum system. It does not work as a speculum by itself, and it comes in 400 g or 800 g.
What it does
This part supplies the steady downward pull that defines a weighted speculum. So the blade stays in place without an assistant holding it. As a result, hands stay free for the procedure itself.
Picking a weight
The 400 g option suits lighter retraction needs. Meanwhile, the 800 g option adds more pull where tissue needs firmer holding. Also, some teams keep both so they can switch during a list.
Works with Scherbak parts
This component joins the Scherbak handle and blades to form the full system. However, it will not replace a complete speculum on its own. Therefore, pair it with a Scherbak handle and a Fig 1 to Fig 5 blade.
Replacing a weight
Order a Scherbak speculum weight when you want a second option or a replacement. Alternatively, the complete set bundles one with a handle and blades. Plus, a spare lets you build a second setup quickly.
Reprocessing Scherbak speculum weight
Clean this part on its own, since its mass makes it awkward to wash beside finer parts. Then rinse and dry it fully, including any recesses. Finally, set it down gently in storage so it cannot knock against the blades.
