Description
Walsham Septum Forceps
Walsham septum forceps are nasal forceps for reducing a broken nose. Surgeons use them to grip a displaced nasal bone and move it back into line.
Designed for fracture reduction
After a nasal injury, the bones can shift to one side or sink inward. So the surgeon places one jaw inside the nostril and the other on the skin. Then a controlled movement lifts the fragment back into position.
Straight, right or left
We offer three jaw orientations: Straight, Right and Left. The angled versions match the side of the nose you treat. Meanwhile, the straight version suits cases where the bone needs a direct lift.
Working with other reduction tools
Closed reduction often calls for more than one instrument. For example, Asch forceps can straighten the septum after the Walsham pair sets the nasal bones. In addition, an elevator may help raise a depressed bone first.
Which orientation fits your practice
If you see fractures on both sides, then a right and left pair covers most cases. However, some surgeons prefer the straight version and simply turn their hand. Contact us if you would like help to plan a set.
Caring for your Walsham septum forceps
Wipe off blood and mucus as soon as the reduction ends. Next, clean the joint and the jaws with a nylon brush under running water. Then dry the forceps thoroughly and sterilize them.
