Vertical Condenser

A vertical condenser is an endodontic plugger for compacting gutta-percha down the root canal toward the apex. Down, Not Sideways

Lateral condensation pushes gutta-percha against the canal walls with a pointed spreader. Vertical condensation, by contrast, presses softened material downward with a flat-ended plugger. As a result, the softened filling adapts to irregular canal spaces. Many clinicians use both methods, choosing by canal shape and personal training.

Four Figures, One Measured

The catalogue lists the condensers as Fig. 1 through Fig. 4. Only Fig. 4 carries a printed measurement, a 0.5 mm diameter. Therefore, compare the photos of the first three figures to see their working ends before you choose. Clinicians commonly use condensers in a sequence, for example a larger figure in the coronal third and a finer one deeper in the canal.

Using a Condenser Safely and Well

First, select a figure that fits loosely in the canal at the planned depth. Next, apply steady, vertical pressure rather than a twisting motion. Then step down to a finer figure as the canal narrows. Because force concentrates at the tip, the right size reduces the risk of binding against the walls.

Made from ASTM F899 stainless steel, each vertical condenser is dispatched non-sterile; clean and sterilize it before use. In addition, every condenser figure enjoys three years against manufacturing defects protection, ours to honor.
