Description
Van Doren Cervical Biopsy and Specimen Forceps
Van Doren biopsy forceps take a 4.9 mm sample from the cervix on a 25 cm instrument. You can order them with a ratchet or without one.
Ratchet or no ratchet
A ratchet holds the jaws closed once you squeeze. So the clinician can keep the bite while lifting the tissue away. By contrast, the free version opens as soon as you relax your grip.
A 4.9 mm bite
The jaws take a sample just under 5 mm across. Therefore, they suit targeted biopsy of a visible lesion. Then the specimen fits neatly into a small pot.
25 cm length
At 25 cm, the instrument clears the speculum with room to spare. Meanwhile, the operator’s hand stays low and out of view. Plus, Van Doren biopsy forceps keep good control at this length.
Picking a version
Choose the ratchet model if you want the jaws to stay shut without constant grip. Alternatively, pick the free model for a lighter, quicker action. Either way, the jaws and length stay the same.
Cleaning Van Doren biopsy forceps
If your pair has a ratchet, release it before cleaning so water reaches every part. Next, scrub jaws and joint with a small brush, rinse, and dry. Finally, store the Van Doren biopsy forceps open in a padded tray.
