Description

USC Carvers Instruments Fig. 2

This USC carver, Fig. 2, comes from the carvers instruments pages of the supplier catalogue, the section labelled for modelling work. It is a hand instrument for shaping wax patterns and soft restorative material. Before it ships, a member of our staff in Georgia checks it, which gives the carver a US inspection.

Not the Same Listing as the USC Amalgam Carver

The catalogue uses the USC name twice. One Fig. 2 sits among the amalgam carvers, while this Fig. 2 sits among the modelling carvers. Because the two listings are separate, we sell them as separate products. Therefore, compare the photos of both before ordering, so you get the instrument your hand already knows.

Modelling Work It Suits

Modelling carvers shape anatomy in wax for inlays, crowns and patterns. They also help with temporary materials at chairside. For example, a technician may add wax with one instrument and then refine cusp form and grooves with the carver. Light strokes and a clean tip produce the smoothest surface.

Keeping It Ready

Wax and resin residue harden on a tip quickly. So wipe the carver during use and clean it fully afterwards. A clean, smooth tip also releases material more easily on the next case. In addition, giving the carver its own rack position, away from heavy forceps, protects the fine tip from knocks against heavier instruments.

The carver is formed from ASTM F899 stainless steel and leaves us non-sterile, so sterilize it before any intraoral use. Plus, each modelling USC purchase earns three years against manufacturing defects coverage, counted once it lands. Reference links: the ASTM F899 page, the Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments collection, and the USC amalgam carver, Fig. 2 for amalgam work. Our FAQs answer order questions.
