Unna Comedone Extractor

The Unna comedone extractor is double ended, with a perforated spoon at each end in two different sizes. The instrument is 15 cm long, so you get a full grip in the middle and a working end for large and small lesions.

Two sizes on one handle

First, use the larger spoon on open comedones on the cheeks and forehead. Then turn to the smaller spoon for the nose and chin, where space is tight. Because both ends work the same way, you only need to learn one technique, and the handle stays clean in the middle.

Choosing the Unna comedone extractor

Choose this pattern if you rarely need a lancet, since it has none. However, if you often open closed lesions, the Unna-Vidal or Saalfeld patterns include a lancet. Therefore, many practitioners keep one of each on the tray.

Care

Clear both spoons straight after use, before residue dries in the openings. Then wash them, rinse, and dry fully before you sterilize to your protocol.
