Uckermann Cotton Applicator

The Uckermann cotton applicator is a slim, straight ENT instrument, 15 cm long. Its tip has a fine texture that grips a wisp of cotton, so you can clean or medicate the ear canal and the nose with precise control.

Working in narrow spaces

First, the thin shaft leaves room to see past it through an otoscope or a speculum. Also, the straight line gives direct feedback, so you feel the tip touch the canal wall. For that reason, many clinicians prefer it for gentle cleaning before an examination.

Uckermann cotton applicator or Farrell?

Both patterns hold cotton on a textured tip. However, the Farrell comes in three lengths, whereas the Uckermann is a single 15 cm size. So if you want one general applicator, this length suits most ear and nose work, and it fits a standard tray.

Care

Strip the cotton off after use, and then wash the tip with a small brush. Finally, dry it fully and sterilize to your protocol.
